He begins taking pride in his academic achievements and feels like a celebrity at school. The headmaster learns of the boy's past and asks him if he would like to reunite with his parents. When Saroo shares this decision with his father, he is sent back to boarding school because he believes that education is more important than family. Saroo is heartbroken at the news and feels that his father has abandoned him. He starts having nightmares about returning to the slums he had lived in prior to attending the boarding school.
